This piece of art is the focal point of my living space. It draws attention to the culture which has prevailed in South East Asia for centuries. As an expat living thousands of miles away from home, this piece of art provides me with a sense of familiarity and warmth in this land far away and is a reminder of my roots. My earliest memory of my great grandmother was in this ‘Burka’, this piece represents her and the thousands of women like her who are the epitome of love, strength, kindness and ‘haya’.
Looking at this art you can see the artist’s attention to detail is remarkable.
